The Governor of Ogun State, Mr. Dapo Abiodun, has unveiled bulk purchase plan in efforts to lessen the prices of food items in the state.
According to Mr. Abiodun, the initiative was introduced during a meeting with market leaders who were led by the Iyaloja General, Chief (Mrs.) Yemi Abass.
He explained that the development is a price control mechanism to make food items more affordable across the state, noting that “our rebranded Gateway Trading Company will begin bulk purchasing and selling in key zones to lower prices.”
“Additionally, we have suspended all market levies except for development and environmental fees to ease the financial pressure on traders,” the governor stressed.
He also stated that a market enforcement task force will ensure the elimination of illegal levies and intimidation.
“We also discussed providing low-interest loans and grants to support traders, alongside improved market waste management,” he added.
